Making facades
radically more timber.

We are developing next-generation unitised curtain wall systems for multistorey buildings.

About the System.

SoTimber is a scalable facade system designed for multistorey buildings.

It enables certified partners to produce prefabricated curtain wall panels that combine solid timber interiors with a non-combustible exterior — meeting modern fire safety and energy standards, while enabling rapid scaffold-free installation.

The system is vapour-open, airtight, factory-assembled, and compatible with various windows and claddings.

It is designed as an open platform, allowing integration with different suppliers and manufacturers under a shared standard.

Patent pending. Application filed with the Czech Industrial Property Office in July 2025.

Why SoTimber.

After 25 years in the glass and aluminium facade industry, I found myself increasingly drawn to timber. Its warmth, sustainability and architectural potential stood in stark contrast to the cold precision I had grown used to.

As multi-storey timber buildings began gaining regulatory acceptance, I saw a unique opportunity: To create a facade system that makes timber safe, viable and desirable — even for high-rise projects.

SoTimber is my response. A system that bridges two worlds: timber and modern facade engineering.

Performance.

Air permeability

EN 12152 – target class AE 1200Designed to achieve the highest airtightness rating, reducing energy loss and improving indoor comfort.

Driving rain resistance

EN 12154 – target class RE 1200High weather resistance, suitable for high-rise and exposed conditions.

Thermal insulation

U-value as low as 0.20 W/m²KMultilayer panel build-up meets Passive House performance standards.

Acoustic insulation

Rw (Rw–Ctr) = 44 (35) dB – laboratory testedExcellent sound reduction, ideal for urban and mixed-use environments.

Fire safety

A2-s1,d0 non-combustible exteriorEnables safe use of timber in multi-storey buildings without regulatory compromise.

Moisture control

Diffusion-graded, vapour-open structurePanel build-up enables safe outward drying of moisture. Sd-values decrease from interior to exterior by a factor of at least 1:5, minimising condensation risks.

Interior surface

Exposed solid timberWarm, natural finish — no additional lining required.

Panel dimensions

2.4 × 3.9 m (optimised), up to 3.0 × 5.0 m (max)Efficient unit sizing for transport, handling and design flexibility.

Panel thickness

minimum 300 mm (incl. rainscreen cladding)Balanced cross-section combining structural depth, insulation, and aesthetic presence.

Prefabrication

Fully sealed and assembled offsiteDelivered pre-glazed and weatherproof, minimising on-site work and scaffolding needs.

Note: Final performance values may vary depending on the certified manufacturing partner, selected components, and project-specific adaptations.

SoTimber as a Platform.

SoTimber is more than a product — it’s a scalable open-platform solution.

Certified partners can integrate their own window, glazing, cladding or shading solutions while maintaining high performance and regulatory compliance. This system approach enables:

  • Flexible use of local or preferred component suppliers
  • Faster adoption across different markets and regulations
  • Cost-effective project-specific customisation
  • Independent manufacturing under system licensing
  • Streamlined integration into existing project workflows

We support partners through technical documentation, standardised details, and performance requirements. SoTimber is built to grow — with you.

Price.

For a standard SoTimber configuration, the target manufacturing cost is approximately €250/m² (net, ex works).

This indicative price includes:

  • a solid timber structure with integrated insulation,
  • a non-combustible exterior layer (e.g. A1-rated board),
  • factory-assembled panel with airtightness and weatherproofing layers.

Not included in this estimate are the final rainscreen cladding (e.g. fibre cement, UHPC, wood fibre panels), glazed units, integrated shading, transport, installation, or project-specific customisation.

The actual cost of the panel will vary based on the selected manufacturer, project location, and chosen components. We can support you with bill-of-materials preparation and coordination with certified manufacturing partners.

Key Advantages.

Why SoTimber makes sense – technically, economically and sustainably.

For Investors

  • Fast construction with no on-site improvisation thanks to full prefabrication
  • Fewer installers required and minimal site footprint
  • Low system weight reduces costs for the structural frame
  • More usable floor area thanks to slimmer wall build-up compared to traditional systems (total panel depth from 300 mm)
  • Consistent quality through certified prefabrication partners
  • Competitive target price (€250/m²) and efficient scaffold-free installation
  • Fire-safe solution compliant with modern facade regulations

For Architects

  • Exposed interior timber surface for natural, aesthetic design
  • Design flexibility: compatible with various window systems and cladding types
  • Suitable for both new builds and refurbishments
  • Vapour-open, diffusion-graded construction
  • Integrated moisture monitoring for long-term safety

For Sustainability

  • Low carbon footprint using fully recyclable materials
  • Locally sourced, FSC-certified timber
  • High thermal and acoustic insulation (U = 0.20 W/m²K, Rw = 44 dB)
  • Easy replacement of window units at end-of-life without dismantling the panel

For Building Residents

  • Warm and natural timber interiors enhance wellbeing and interior quality
  • Excellent acoustic insulation ensures quiet and privacy in urban settings
  • Stable indoor climate with no cold spots or drafts
  • Vapour-open structure supports a healthy indoor environment
  • Non-combustible exterior for increased fire safety and peace of mind
